Wrap It Up

For many women, the heat of the moment can outweigh a potential lifetime of health issues. According to a new survey, 7 out 10 women in the U.K. admit to having regular unprotected sex.

In a study of 2000 women age 18-40, the website DrFox.co.uk, an online pharmacy, found some startling statistics about the sexual habits of young women.

Eight percent of women reported that they "just don't like using condoms," and one in five said they trust their partner not to infect them with an STD. 18 percent admitted to being too drunk to use contraception, and 12 percent said condoms weren't available.

In all, the average women has had unprotected sex 11 times with at least four different partners.

"The issue of contraception should be dealt with by both parties, but women need to protect themselves, even when men are not playing their part," said the site's co-founder, Dr. Tony Steele. "The consequences of not using contraception for both unwanted pregnancy and for STI's can be huge."

Of the age groups, women between 30 and 40 scored the worst.

According to the survey, they are more likely to have taken the morning-after pill, are more likely to have had unprotected sex in the last three months and are most likely to have contracted an STD.

At least I'm above the "average" hahaha. Kidding! I think it's crazy for anyone to be casual about unprotected sex.

Personally, I'd like to see polls like this done on men AND women AT THE SAME TIME. Practicing safe sex is up to everyone. All the time. When we talk about one gender "not being protected" instead of PEOPLE IN GENERAL it begins to sound like one is more responsible for it than another, when it's always taken two to tango. Other than that - I can only say I am often ASTONISHED by the smart men AND women in my life who've had unprotected sex in the most ridic situations and tried to rationalize it away. AUGH!!!
