Shiseido Is Releasing Just Three Jars of the Limited Edition La Crème Moisturizer

Sell your car, hock your wedding ring, offer up a kidney … and you still might not be able to afford a single jar of Shiseido's upcoming limited edition jar of La Crème. And that's assuming you'll be one of the lucky three -- yes, three -- who can get their mitts on the super, super limited edition moisturizer in the first place.

In honor of the 30th anniversary of its Cle de Peau Beaute line of cosmetics, Shiseido will release just three jars of the $13K La Crème, which comes in a crystal-encrusted, 50-gram jar … and costs more than gold, Blisstree.com reports.

Actress Amanda Seyfried has been chosen as the spokesperson for the pricey cream (though, again, since only three jars are being made, we wonder why it really needs a spokesperson … also, does Amanda Seyfried inspire you to want to spend $13K on face cream?).

Specifically, the cream is encased in 30 layers of crystal, in handmade jars by French glassmaker Crystal Saint-Louis. The jars will be topped by three platinum rings, according to Elle magazine.

So, what's the fuss with the fancy stuff?  According to a description of the cream, it is "an exceptional, luxurious, high-performance nighttime cream serum that brings unparalleled age-defying benefits to the complexion for flawless, radiant, more youthful skin overnight. Addresses all signs of aging to visibly and remarkably improve skin's texture and radiance."

According to a Shiseido spokesman, "We do not usually make limited editions of our products, but this is to mark a special occasion for the Cle de Peau Beaute line. We hope it will appeal to our loyal customers and people who are interested in gorgeous brands."

For people who are loyal and interested in gorgeous brands, but not $13,000 worth of gorgeous, the "everyday," 1.7 oz. jar of La Crème can be yours for the low, low (well, relatively) price of $775.

If you want to be one of the three owners of the $13K cream, Shiseido will begin taking orders on Aug. 30, and if more than three people want La Crème, the company will hold a lottery, the New York Daily News reports.

A lottery in which the winners have to pay money … this really better be some miracle moisturizer.
