New Movie Experience Set for 200 U.S. Theaters

As if your theater experience couldn't get more hi-tech (or more pricey) than 3D movies, 4D movies are the next big thing on the horizon.

What's a 4D movie?

4D movies include additional sensations like smell and movements -- in all, more than 1,000 extras can become a part of the movie-going experience. 

Imagine water that mists at you when the film shows an ocean, different scents that accompany what's happening on screen (can you imagine smelling a car chase?), and, of course, your seat rumbles to mimic an earthquake in the film.

South Korean's CJ Group plans to bring the 4D movie experience to North American theaters, including 200 in the U.S., beginning in Los Angeles and New York, over the next four years.

Of course, the 4D movie experience comes at a price -- expect to pay double the ticket price you're used to paying.
