Oy... the love.

If you didn’t know, Hanukkah is an 8-day Jewish festival commemorating the Maccabee victory and the restoration of the temple (duh). Here are eight ways to get down with him and his culture.

1. Spell Hanukkah right. There are at least 16 different ways to spell the name of this holiday. So spell it right and impress him.

2. Get out the oil. Oil that burns for 8 days, pa-sha, you can do better than that. Buy some massage oil and give him a good rub down.

3. Light his fire. Rejoice in the festival of lights by lighting candles. Set a romantic scene and make merry.

4. Eat something. Make him a smorgasbord of goodies. Matzo ball soup, potato latkes (our faves) and soofganiot … yummy!

5. Go to temple. Attend services together and when you get home, let the servicing continue.

6. Give his mama some lovin’. Every good Jewish boy loves his mother - and she loves him. So when you get together for the holiday, bring a hostess gift, give lots of hugs and be respectful of her culture.

7. Give his dreidel a twirl. Who needs sexy dice when you can make a sexy dreidel. Use your imagination and challenge him to a match - don’t forget the gelt!

8. Give yourself as a gift. Think naked sushi, except with gefilte fish.

The Hebrew alphabet does not correspond to the English alphabet, and anglicized versions of Hebrew words are effectively sounded out... there is no singular proper spelling, unless you are using the Hebrew alphabet.
