Adam Lambert Responds: "I'm Not A Babysitter"
Adam Lambert's AMA performance still doesn't trigger apology.
We reported Tuesday that Adam Lambert's uber-risque American Music Awards performance garnered thousands of comments for AMA's airing network ABC. By Tuesday afternoon Good Morning America had canceled his Wednesday concert on the show, but Lambert was hardly fazed. His response to the criticism? He shrugged, saying, "I'm not a babysitter."
That's what he told Ryan Seacrest on an interview on Seacrest's Web site. And Lambert even came out ahead, as he definitely caught the other networks' attention. CBS' The Early Show invited him to appear Wednesday after GMA sent him packing, stating that they don't feel he's appropriate for a morning television audience.
And after such a wild AMA performance on Sunday, it's tough to get Lambert riled up."I don't feel like I owe anyone an apology," Lambert stated. "I did something female performers have been doing for years. All of a sudden a guy does it, and it's crazy. I do think there's a slight double standard."
.
But really...how does he explain the over-the-top AMA display? "I think the adrenaline kind of took me over," Lambert told Ryan Seacrest -- and he's actually happy about it: "I admit and I'm kind of proud of the fact that I did get a little carried away. I had a good time and I was merely interpreting the lyrics of my song. It wasn't meant to piss anyone off, it wasn't meant to hurt anyone or cause any problems." Lambert said he feels everyone's making too big a deal of the whole scenario.
