Adam Lambert's AMA Performance Gets Thousands of Complaints
Parents riled over Lambert at American Music Awards.
Adam Lambert was only For Your Entertainment, but now ABC is apologizing for your appallment. The network stated that on Monday it received 1,500 complaints from angry parents for Adam Lambert's AMA performance, and ABC admits that they too were surprised the by contents of Lambert's performance.
As we reported Monday morning, Adam Lambert's AMA performance was full of sexuality, skin and shocks, and video of the performance was by far the hottest search term on the Internet immediately after it aired (especially because producers edited the West Coast to appear a little family-friendlier). But thousands of fuming parents called ABC Monday morning, demanding the network explain why it would have aired such a wild presentation.
Timothy Winters president of the Parents Television Council weighed in: "They're outraged. They just can't believe the nature of the content, the explicit nature, and how much graphic content there was."
.
And the market may have a right to beef: they and their children are the biggest financial feeders of the entertainment industry. Winters stated, "These programs are wholly unsuitable for children now and it's pathetic, given the amount of economic support that children and teenagers bring to the industry today."
Yikes. Adam Lambert isn't making any apologies. He calls his approach to performing "free-style" and voiced his gratitude for artistic freedom and expression on Twitter after his spectacle.
