Alexa Chung for J. Crew's Madewell Brand
Alexa starts designing!
You don't generally see celebrities modeling for and collaborating with J. Crew or its sister label Madewell. But now all that could be changing... With good reason, of course. Alexa Chung may be more than just a pretty face for J. Crew. And I can't wait to see what this collaboration is all about!
Reports have said that when J. Crew Chairman and CEO, Millard Drexler, asked Madewell staff who they thought the store's ideal customer was, they all named Alexa Chung. Alexa Chung is already a Madewell customer and the company clearly likes it like that. But now they want her to do some designing for them as well.
According to Drexler, Alexa will be way more than just a spokesmodel. He says, "There is no grand scheme to this, and we still don't want to hire a celebrity spokesperson... It's just that Alexa is totally cool. It's not the way she looks or dresses. It's the way she is."
And Alexa Chung is totally fashionable! She topped Vogue's list of the World's Most Stylish Women, models for Pepe Jeans, and inspired a Mulberry bag. Alexa is super excited about the collaboration and has said, "I love how their vibe is a mix of vintage and new... It completely clicked with me."
Alexa's line, Alexa Chung for Madewell, will have a Victorian-era feel, featuring skinny jeans, biker jackets, dresses, and more. It should arrive at Madewell stores for Fall 2010, but hopefully we'll have some previews of it before then!
