Alexander Wang Takes Home The CFDA/Vogue Award
He makes Anna Wintour smile.
With the economy in the crapper, it's no surprise fledgling designers flocked to the CFDA/Vogue Fund awards held last night in NYC.
The fund recognizes up-and-coming designers, awarding them name recognition, mentoring, and perhaps most appreciated in these turbulent economic times, five and six figure prizes.
The night's top award went to fashion darling Alexander Wang, who first garnered attention for his incredible T's and knitwear. The 24-year-old San Francisco native and Parson's graduate interned at Derek Lam, Marc Jacobs, Vogue, and Teen Vogue before capturing the attention of the NY fashion world.
Not bad for a guy barely out of college. His BFF's, models Erin Wasson and Alice Dellal, were there to help him celebrate his win and party the night away.
Or, as he put it, "I'm going to call up all my friends, order a pizza, and go dance my ass off." Congats, Alexander! You deserve it.
