American Apparel, Chanel Nail Polish Substitute?
From Leotards to Funky Polish
American Apparel's funky ads and devil-may-care owner might have left a bad taste in your mouth last year, but 2010 has seen them really ramp things up. We're looking at brand-new nail lacquers that, instead of matching with your shoes like Aldo's version, might match with your thong bodysuit or basic tee instead.
American Apparel's newest polish offerings are just what we crave: affordable shades that look like versions of top seasonal picks. If you're strapped for cash, skimp on the designer polishes and go for a few of the American Apparel options: we won't tell!
At $6 a pop, American Apparel's newest nail varnish venture might signify their toning down of all things Spandex. After all, the polishes themselves are refined, and this could be the start of something newer, classier, and more stylish.
Take American Apparel's Mouse shade, a putty brown that's quite close to Chanel's Particuliere, which runs for $23. If you prefer not to go the nude route, Malibu Green taps into the turquoise trend, while Palm Springs plays with a grown-up peach and injects a little more color to get it vibrant.
I'll be patronizing American Apparel to get my fix of pastel polishes for the season. I'm probably not the only one who has been lusting after Chanel shades with an empty pocketbook, so tell us here at LimeLife: will you be swinging by the shop to get your polish as well?
