American Apparel's Line of Clothing From Scraps
Who knew scraps could be so hot?
When we're shopping for new clothing at stores, we generally don't want to hear the word "scraps." But American Apparel has recently launched their new line of clothing called Creative Reuse, a clothing line made completely of scraps! Bag-O-Scraps, anyone?
Creative Reuse is American Apparel's new line of accessories made completely from repurposed and excess fabrics. With everything from headbands to belts to bathing suits to bowties, American Apparel is determined not to waste any fabric. And we kind of love the whole idea!
According to an American Apparel spokesperson to Ecouterre, "We design pattern cuts to produce the least waste possible, but there's always a bit left over... We draw inspiration from these pattern gaps, and they've been used to create our accessory styles." But maybe you're not interested in American Apparel's new designs? You can buy the scraps yourself!
The Bag-O-Scraps will only run you $8 and will allow you to design and create your own American Apparel-like projects. You'll also get a Scrap Project Booklet to aid you along in your work.
We've never heard of anything like this from a clothing company before, but we have a feeling many will be following suit. And this is just one more reason why we love American Apparel.
