American Idol Shocker?
Someone might be leaving and it's not P-crazy.
Paula Abdul and Katherine Heigl must be in casting cahoots. Both have complained loudly about their respective shows, and both have threatened to leave. Yet it's their co-stars who really seem intent on finding the door.
First, T.R. Knight, and now the master of mean himself, Simon Cowell. Yes, the pissy, perma-tanned one revealed to reporters that he's not sure how much longer he'll be staying on American Idol. Cowell said he'd make a decision next year about whether to stay or go.
Unlike P-crazy, his decision to leave is less about the behind-the-scenes dramz, and more about the show's seemingly neverending run. Simon said the show could go on for another 10 years and he wasn't sure he'd be along for the ride.
We're not sure we would be either. Can you imagine American Idol without Simon? Or, worse, 10 more years of American Idol with just Randy and Paula and that other one? The sheer volume of "dawgs" and wacky weepiness would drive us to desperation: we'd have no choice but to tune into America's Got Talent.
