American Idol Star Caught In Chilean Earthquake
An 8.8 earthquake rocked Chile Saturday morning.
By now you're probably aware of the 8.8 mega-earthquake that shook parts of Chile Saturday morning. American Idol's Elliott Yamin was present for it, and tweeted the details of the earthquake in Chile about what he's calling the "scariest nite/morn of my life."
By Saturday morning Elliott Yamin had nearly 15,000 followers on Twitter. He spent the early part of Friday complaining about a competition he'd been participating in while he was in Chile, saying, "Thanks 4 nothing Chile!...what an aweful experience!" and calling his trip "an incredibly huge waste of time" during which he was "treated like an amateur." [sic]
All those tweets took place around 4 a.m. Saturday morning, and then suddenly Yamin's tune changed: "Huge earthquake just now in Chile!!....I swear I thought this was the end of my life!!!!!" Then he said, "F*ck!!!!!! I take it all back everybody!!....I just escaped w my life,from an 8.3 earthquake!!!...is everybody ok?...where was the epicener?" [sic]
Elliott Yamin tweeted about the powerful aftershock the Chilean earthquake was leaving, and then said, "So...1 min, I'm trashin this competition on twitter, the next,I'm runnin 4 my life 2 safety!...what a contrast!...I hope & pray yall are ok!"
Yamin then posted that he'd be corresponding and appearing live for Today, Good Morning America and CNN. He said the army in Chile was telling him to stay put, but he was also asking for details about the tsumani warning that the people had been warned about. Yamin said, "Complete and utter choas on the streets...no power...my heart is beatin outta my chest!....tsunami warnin...I am only a mile inland!"
