American Idol's Top 13 Turns Nasty
A little phone sex with your talent competition?
American Idol has run into a little bit of a problem. A very adult problem, actually. It seems having a 13th contestant has caused quite the naughty kerfuffle for the family-friendly show.
This season marks the first time that American Idol has gone with a Top 13, instead of a Top 12. And while that's good news for Anoop (Anoooooop!), it may be somewhat irksome to protective parents.
Why? Because while American Idol owns the phone numbers that correspond to each of the 12 voting lines (1-866-IDOLS-01 to 1-866-IDOLS-12), they do not own the number to lucky line 13.
That number is owned by a phone sex operation. Dial 1-866-IDOLS-13 and you can connect with a "nasty girl" for $3.99 a minute.
I kid you not.
AI producer Megan Michaels said that there would be no mention of the nasty phone number on tonight's broadcast, "because we don't even want to endorse that." Instead, viewers will be given another number for the 13th contestant. A G-rated number.
