New List Ranks the Top 15 Most Successful Chains in the U.S.

It's no secret we Americans love to eat and run. Which is why fast food chains, which total 105,000 locations nationwide, made over $115 billion in profits last year.

But that amount isn't divided equally among them. In these still shaky economic times, certain chains have continued to thrive, while others have been forced to downsize. Subway, for example, saw a 7.5 percent increase in profits, while Dominos had to close 22 of its locations.

And did you know Starbucks counts as fast food? Just like Burger King or Mickey D's, the supremely popular caffeine pit stop is also considered an LSR (Limited Service Restaurant).
