Amy Winehouse Made Into Lego Figure
Amy Winehouse is plastic fantastic after being made into a 12,500 piece Lego figure. Creator Craig Stevens made the statue of the stick-thin singer in less than half the time it usually takes him to make a Lego model.
Stevens said: "The Amy Winehouse Sculpture was constructed with only six days notice, but despite the hurried building that I did, I was happy with the result. "Normally I would spend two weeks on a Lego bust alone. "There was a competition to guess the number of pieces in Lego Amy. It's actually made from over 12,500 pieces and probably weighs more than the real Amy Winehouse." Stevens was asked to make the model to mark Croydon Fashion Festival, in London, where Lego Amy has been on display. Winehouse is a graduate of the town's performing arts school, the Brit School. He said: "The sculpture has gone down very well with the people at Croydon Fashion Festival and the public alike." Stevens has made many celebrities out of Lego, including Freddie Mercury which was bought by London's Hayward Gallery. He has also made a model of Star Trek's William Shatner and Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.
