"Andy Griffith Show's" Gomer Pyle, Jim Nabors, Marries Boyfriend in Seattle

Well Gooolllly! Jim Nabors Is a Married Man

At age 82, Jim Nabors, the affable actor who played Gomer Pyle on "The Andy Griffith Show," has married for the first time.

Nabors and Stan Cadwallader, 64, his boyfriend of 38 years went to Seattle, Washington (where same sex marriages became legal last month) from their home in Honolulu to tie the knot.

"I'm 82 and he's in his 60s and so we've been together for 38 years and I'm not ashamed of people knowing, it's just that it was such a personal thing, I didn't tell anybody," Nabors said in a statement. "I'm very happy that I've had a partner of 38 years and I feel very blessed. And, what can I tell you, I'm just very happy."

The veteran actor maintains that friends and co-workers have always known about his sexuality but that he kept it out of the media. The newlyweds met in Hawaii in 1975.
