Bachelorette Melissa Rycroft Is Pregnant!

Ah, the sweet smell of victory...smells like a new baby! Melissa Rycroft was known as the most unfairly jilted Bachelorette in history after Jason Mesnick dumped her on the air last year, but she turned around to close the year with an awesome Dancing With the Stars run and a wedding to her longtime friend, Tye Strickland. Now, the co-host of The Bachelor Pad is pregnant! Here's what she's saying...and why the news was a little, uh, unexpected.

Twenty-seven-year-old Melissa Rycroft Strickland has become a network TV staple, with stints as co-host of Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve, a regular on Good Morning America, Dancing with the Stars and now co-host of ABC's new The Bachelor Pad. As Rycroft appeared on this week's Bachelor documentary miniseries on ABC, her genuine interview approach to past contestants kept us focused on her brains and not on her belly! Turns out Melissa Rycroft Strickland had a little news up her shirt -- er, sleeve!

And it was a big surprise, she says, especially with this new ABC project in the works. "It was a shock. We weren't even trying," Rycroft Strickland says, although her husband Tye has been baby-crazy for awhile. "He wanted the kids right away, and I was laughing at him going, 'No, not ready!'"

But Rycroft Strickland describes her pregnancy news as "the most wonderful surprise in the world ... it's such a blessing."

She's not emotional with hormones yet, but the former NFL cheerleader says she is indeed craving culinary delicacies big-time, "eating everything in sight" and wishing she could nosh on sushi. She told Us, "Knowing me, I'm going to swell and gain 90 pounds -- but it's not about me anymore!"
