30 days to a better you.

So, it's the second week of January and you've either given up on your New Year's resolution days ago, or you're teetering on the edge of declaration destruction. Don't lie - we know, it happens.

Thus we bring you "30 Days to a Better You." A daily food, exercise or wellness tip to keep you healthy, wealthy and wise in 2009. No resolutions, just information.

And cause no one likes a stinky, read up on these natural cures for bad breath.

When brushing, flossing and tongue scraping doesn't do the trick, try these natural remedies to keep your breath smelling fresh.

Yogurt:
Eat some of this velvety goodness and load your body with healthful probiotics - friendly bacteria that assist in digestion and help keep bad breath at bay.

Peppermint:
Place a drop of peppermint oil on your tongue twice a day and say tootalou to sour breath. The antibacterial nature of peppermint helps to rid the mouth of sulfurs left behind by noshing stinky garlic and onions.

Pineapple:

The acid found in pineapples helps rid the mouth of any foul scents. Drink a little and smell like a tropical, Hawaiian vacation.

I had never thought about probiotics helping with bad breath, but it makes sense because I’m working on healthy digestion, which translates to healthy breath! I’ve been taking a probiotic supplement for a while now to supplement my yogurt intake. It’s dairy free and shelf stable, multi strain and with a high viable cell count (important in a probiotic). Great tip on pineapple refreshing your mouth, I’m ready to get tropical! -Anna M. www.sedonalabs.com
