Bethenny Frankel and Husband Jason Hoppy Have Separated
The SkinnyGirl, Bethenny Frankel, Is About to Be The Single Girl
Bethenny Frankel, she of "Real Housewives of New York" and SkinnyGirl margarita fame (and riches), announced today that she and her husband of two years, Jason Hoppy, are no longer happily ever after.
It should be noted that the announcement came on a Sunday, two days before Christmas. Frankel's public relations puppeteers were clearly hoping for little-to-no coverage. Sorry that we're not obliging.
"This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family," Frankel, 42 said in the statement issued earlier today.
Fans of the former "Real Housewives of New York City" fan who watched her romance with Hoppy unfold on both "Bethenny Getting Married?" and "Bethenny Ever After" are no doubt surprised, if not saddened by the news.
It took a long time for Frankel, who invented the SkinnyGirl Margarita (and subsequent food and health products) and then sold it for a whopping $100 million bucks to Fortune Brands Gleam Global in 2011, to find the man of her dreams -- and, from what we saw on the Bravo "reality" shows, she really seemed to have locked in on him with Hoppy.
The couple, who wed in March of 2010, welcomed their daughter, Bryn, in May of that same year.
Hoppy, whose precise career has never been fully disclosed on the television shows, (finance?) is Frankel's second husband -- she was married to her "best friend" Peter Sussman, in 1996 when she was still in her twenties. The marriage lasted for less than eight months.
As Frankel told Life & Style magazine, "I loved him because of how much he loved me. I got married too young. I didn't wait for the great love of my life." Guess that Jason Hoppy wasn't it. Bummer. Especially for Bryn.
