Betty White's SNL Date Scheduled
You asked, you won...here's when SNL will star Betty White.
You loved reading that Betty White had accepted Saturday Night Live's invitation to host the show after 500,000 of you petitioned online to have the 88-year-old star. SNL is giving you more of what you want...here's when the beloved Betty White will be live from New York.
Saturday Night Live has set their Betty White hosting date for May 8. Our friends at PopEater explain: "The special Mother's Day episode will also reunite six former female SNL cast members: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch ... The show's creator-producer, Lorne Michaels, admits the Facebook campaign 'took on a groundswell ... [White as the host] isn't something we would have said no to, [but the campaign] validated that, 'Oh, that'd be fun' ... It was the outpouring of affection from fans.'"
It appears SNL hasn't seen a superlatively-aged host grace their stage since sometime in the 1990's when the show was known for putting child stars like Macaulay Culkin and Lindsay Lohan onstage.
So this Betty White SNL hosting gig is refreshing for all of us. Here's the Super Bowl commercial that made you demand more of Betty White in the mainstream. "That's not what your girlfriend says!" Can't wait to see this Golden Girl shine at 30 Rock.
