You can tell a lot about a country by its most popular exports. In America, it's beef, beer and French fries. And in Brazil, it's butts. Check out some of South America's finest backsides running for Miss BumBum Brazil 2012.

Currently up for your consideration are 500 Brazilian derrieres, each sculpted by both genes and gyms, fighting for a chance to be in the top 15. From there only the sweetest cheeks will travel to Sao Paolo to compete for the national title.

And what does the best butt get? Last year's winner Rosana Ferreira won a prize of $5000, while second place received $3,000 and third got $2,000. Talk about shaking your money-maker.

However, scandal looms over this year's competition. Fan favorite Cibelle Riberio was nearly disqualified following reports that she had undergone butt injections, only to be vindicated when she agreed to x-rays.
