'Girl Meets World' Casting Underway

What's that saying? Everything old is new again?

Maybe that's the case with the 1990s sitcom, Boy Meets World, which is getting a spin-off sequel called Girl Meets World.

News of the Boy Meets World sequel had fans of the old series pretty excited -- did it mean there would be a Ben Savage (Cory) and Danielle Fishel (Topanga) on-screen reunion?

Or will the show be something different altogether?

The Disney Channel is currently casting Girl Meets World, so there are no details just yet about who will play which roles, but Savage and Fishel have tweeted some fun hints that they may reprise their parts. reports that Girl Meets World will focus on Cory and Topanga's daughter, 13-year-old Riley Matthews, with the official casting scoop described as follows: "13 years old, indelible personality, an adorable girl on the cusp of whatever comes next in life, and wanting to rush into it head first. She is fiercely loyal to her friends, and spends most of her time juggling the obstacles that life throws her way ... there is no obstacle in this girl's world that can dampen her bright spirit and eternal optimism."

How would Savage and Fishel possibly fit into the scheme of things?

The buzz is that Savage's character, Cory, is Riley's seventh grade history teacher.

Riley will have a sidekick in Maya, her BFF who's described as "darker and less trusting" than Riley, with "acerbic wit" and "absolutely magnetic in attracting or intimidating the people in her sphere as she cares to. Dark and edgy, but just as fiercely loyal to Riley as Riley is to her."
