Brad Pitt Gives Expensive Gifts

Brad Pitt is making headlines for his expensive gift giving and taking a little heat for buying 11 year old Maddox a motorbike.

First up though, Pitt reportedly spent $390,000 on a watch for Angelina Jolie.

What exactly makes a watch worth almost $400,000? It's a Patek Philippe watch, which takes two months to craft. (Believe it or not, even at that hefty price tag, there's normally a two-year waiting list for the custom-made luxury item.)

According to The Sun, it's a wedding present for Jolie, so, you know, it's got to be special.

A source tells The Sun, "He wanted to buy Ange a unique gift that very few people own which is like a piece of art -- and the highly sophisticated watch is just that. It chimes sounds based on Big Ben and is constructed by hand. He went to Geneva to pick it up and it's believed he'll present it to Ange as a pre-wedding gift."

Now on to that fabulous birthday present for Maddox -- a motorbike. For an 11 year old.

I know Pitt is likely getting plenty of heat for the perceived danger of a kid having a motorbike, but young kids do ride them.

Pitt got the Suzuki DRZ-125 motorbike for Maddox's birthday on Sunday, August 5, ordering it from HGB Motorcycles in Ruislip, Germany.

Us Weekly reports that safety was definitely a concern, with a source saying, "He wasn't sure of the safety and wanted to think about it."

Ultimately, the bike purchase was a go, with the source noting "It's a great bike for a kid to have as his first -- it's a junior dirt bike, so very safe, low powered but still very fun."

According to E! News, Pitt is looking to share his "passion for bikes" with his kids and "wants the boys to be able to ride [bikes] on private land."
