Britney Spears Pays For Paparazzo Roadkill

Oops! Brit, let's not do that again.

Britney Spears may have paid $230K for smooshing photog's foot.

Last week British pop star Robbie Williams rode passenger in a car that ran over the legs of an 18-year-old paparazzo. With the court case that Britney Spears settled today, we're learning it's not rare for photogs to get crushed for their art.

Fortunately for them, celebs have to pay the price. When Rick Mendoza's foot was injured in 2007, he alleged that Britney's Mercedes ran him over. He went on to accuse Spears of being too unstable to sit behind the wheel of a vehicle. He's quoted saying that Britney's camp, "should have known ... Britney was not in the mental, emotional and/or physical condition to operate the subject motor vehicle in a safe and reasonable manner."

It's reported that Mendoza, who was working for TMZ at the time of the incident, demanded a whopping $230,000 for damages. The amount Britney has paid hasn't been confirmed, but the amount Mendoza requested is about five to eight times what the pap might have gotten paid if he'd captured a good pic of Brit. Make sure the streets are clear when Spears steers, or...say cheese!

Even in the face of the photog run-in (er, run-over?) we're happy to observe that Britney's much better off than she was just a year ago at this time.
