Britney's Circus Tour: Clowns, Midgets, and Perez Hilton
She's baaaack!
It has been a slow rise from the ashes of her smoking cinderpile of a career, but we can all rest easy with the knowledge that Britney is back. Back on top. Last night's show in New Orleans was the first date in her comeback tour, and reviews have been positive so far!
For example, MTV details out the insanity that was the opener:
"...clowns come out with nunchucks. They're followed by acrobats and gymnasts in long flowing robes, performing a routine to the music from "Kill Bill." Then everyone - mime, clowns, jugglers, little person and monks - do a sort of samba, and then Perez Hilton shows up on the video screens to deliver a monologue while dressed as Queen Elizabeth. Then Britney appears and murders him with a crossbow."
.
What? Are there tickets still available for this show? It sounds like David Lynch collaborated on this mess. One of the funnier reviews comes to us via the LATimes, whose Ann Powers got deep on the pop princess' extravaganza:
"In the circus, Spears finds her perfect metaphor for her own life as the world's favorite fallen angel."
and the clincher:
"But anyone who thinks her lackluster would do well to remember what she really is: a burlesque performer, a carny's dream born a century or so too late to be fated to ply her art upon the midway, but able to fulfill the spectacle of blond ambition now. "
Wow. Well, we're almost sorry we didn't seize on the chance to scoop up tickets for BritBrit's Bay Area tour dates. Almost.
