Brooke Shields' Nude Photo Yanked
Brooke Shields' Naked Display No More
Brooke Shields' nude photo on display at the Tate Modern in London has been removed after public outcry, PEOPLE reports, and there could be good reason--the photo was taken when she was 10! Do you think that the shot sounds distasteful, or is it going too far to completely pull the pic from the exhibit "Pop Life: Art in a Material World"?
A Scotland Yard spokesman commented that "The officers have specialist experience in this field and are keen to work with gallery management to ensure that they do not inadvertently break the law or cause any offence to their visitors," which is why the room containing the photo of Brooke Shields has now been closed to the public.
Kidscape, a group founded to protect children from abuse, rallied efforts to remove the photo after deeming it a "magnet for pedophiles." Richard Prince had said that he intended the shot to provoke people, and it sounds like he did just tha!
Is it overreacting to remove the photo from the exhibition, or do you think it never should have been shown in the first place?
