Bruce Springsteen Family Death Was Cousin, Roadie
Bruce Springsteen cancelled Kansas City show for "death in family."
Bruce Springsteen was set to perform Monday night at Kansas City's Sprint Center before his Web site announced that "due to a death in Bruce's immediate family" the show had been "unavoidably cancelled." While the exact cause of death hasn't been released, the relative's role to Bruce has been.
Lenny Sullivan was Bruce Springsteen's cousin and assistant road manager. He worked with Bruce's traveling stage crew for a decade and was 36 years old.
Sullivan was found dead in his Kansas City Intercontinental Hotel room on Monday. The cause of his death has been ruled as "unsuspicious," but it sounds like it came as a shock nonetheless. Bruce's band released a statement about Sullivan's death: "A warm and sensitive person, he was beloved by Bruce, the Band, the crew and the entire Thrill Hill family." They also thanked Kansas City for their support and understanding, saying all tickets would be refunded at the point of purchase.
It hasn't been stated whether The Boss will perform Thursday night at New York's Madison Square Garden as scheduled.
