Bruce Springsteen Slams Ticket Claims
Bruce Springsteen has slammed reports he is to blame for fans paying higher prices for one of his gigs. Fans found themselves unable to buy certain tickets from online retailer Ticketmaster in February for a New Jersey show.
Instead, they were directed to another seller – which was charging more for the tickets. A recent newspaper article blamed the Born To Run singer for withholding the best tickets to his New Jersey shows from the public and selling them for an inflated rate. The TicketsNow website agreed to pay out US$350,000 to the state of New Jersey and held a random ticket draw for 1,000 fans who filed complaints, after Springsteen dubbed the incident an "abuse of our fans and our trust". Springsteen's manager Jon Landau told a US newspaper: "Unlike some Ticketmaster-managed artists, no (Springsteen) tickets are held for high dollar resale on TicketsNow, or through any other means." He accused Ticketmaster of running a "bait and switch" operation.
