Carpenter escaped the attack, but is telling her story in a new series for Investigation Discovery called I Survived Evil. She will also host the series.

Carpenter joins others in sharing the details of how they survived violent attacks.
She explains the event of the 1991 attack that occurred when she was a cheerleader for the San Diego Chargers. She and friends went to Torrey Pines State Beach to swim and a masked gunman attacked the trio.
The man was serial rapist Henry Hubbard Jr. -- and also a San Diego cop. Thanks to Carpenter's evidence from Hubbard's attacks, a flashlight, he is now in prison serving a 56-year prison sentence.
President and general manager of Investigation Discovery Henry Schleiff, explained choosing Carpenter as host: "The fact that Charisma has personally lived through the tragic nightmare of being attacked -- and, thankfully, is willing to share her ordeal with our viewers -- makes her the perfect host for I Survived Evil."

Carpenter says she'd like to interview Hubbard for one episode, explaining, "I'm interested in a sit-down, to ask him myself questions [I have]. Whether or not Hubbard will let me [I don't know], but my producers are interested, though they're treating it very delicately. I think they're worried about me, but really, I'm OK with it."
I Survived Evil comes to Investigation Discovery in 2013.
