In the fast food world, over-the-top offerings like The Heart Attack Burger and Dorito Locos don't even make customers gasp anymore so fast food jounts are continually looking to up the ante. Enter Burger King's newest creation, the Bacon Sundae, debuting alongside some sandwiches in the chain's new Summer BBQ menu.

According to The Associated Press, the Bacon Sundae will begin to appear on BK menus this Thursday, June 14, but will only be available until the fall -- Just long enough to pack on a few pounds and raise your cholesterol a couple of notches.

Clocking in at 510 calories, with 18 grams of fat, and 61 grams of sugar this sundae is sure to be a crowd favorite.

In BK's press release unveiling the new menu, the sundae is described as "The sweet and savory dessert features the rich and creamy vanilla BK® soft serve, drizzled with chocolate fudge, caramel and topped with bacon crumbles, complete with a thick-cut, hardwood smoked bacon garnish."

Though health-conscious customers will ino doubt  scoff, recent reports have shown that half of the fat in bacon contains monounsaturated oleic acid --  the same type of "good fat" contained in olive oil that can help reduce bad cholesterol in your body.

As is the case with any food, moderation is a very important factor, so indulging in plenty of bacon sundaes to "help reduce your cholesterol" will definitely not work in your favor. I'm glad that I stressed that point, and your heart will be thankful that you know about the power of moderation.
