CMA Awards 2009 Winners: Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum Win Big
Who honkeyed, and who tonked?
The biggest night in country music is officially over, and some of the genre's biggest stars took home huge awards. While Taylor Swift cleaned up house, acts like Lady Antebellum and Brad Paisley were also honored at last night's CMA Awards.
Taylor Swift, 19, burst into tears when her name was called as Entertainer of the Year, making her the youngest artist to ever win the award. She beat out four-time winner Kenny Chesney for the honor, adding it to her stash of other awards that night, including Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Best Music Video for her song "Love Story."
"She has taken the music world by storm," said Brad Paisley. "She's the biggest artist in music right now, by far. It's hands down. She's entertainer of the year in country music, no doubt, and I'm really proud of her."
In the other categories, Lady Antebellum had a fairly good night as well. The relatively new musical group took home the award for Single of the Year with "I Run to You," as well as Vocal Group of the Year.
Darius Rucker, who had a chance to become the first African-American to win Best Male Vocalist in almost 30 years, took home the Best New Artist of the Year Award. Brad Paisley was named Best Male Vocalist instead.
Country music's resident wild man, Jamey Johnson, won the award for best song of the year with "In Color."
