Can I Do a Custom Blend?

Sunscreen and lotion seems like it could be a good mix: simply dump in a bottle of SPF 50 into a cheapo drugstore brand lotion in a pump bottle, and you'll never forget to apply sunscreen again! Right? Not quite.

Not only will you be diluting the power of your sunscreen by at least 50% (so your SPF 30 becomes a 15, for example), but some ingredients in lotion can actually affect the way that sunscreen protects your skin.

Bog down active properties and make skin extra-greasy? Blending sunscreen and lotion sounded like a good idea, but I'm going to have to say "no thanks" after thinking this through more. Instead, I think I'm going to pick up a sunscreen misting spray, which is less work than a traditional cream, and stock up on sunscreen sticks for my purse!
