Carre Otis Reveals Ex Mickey Rourke Pulled Gun On Her On Honeymoon

Supermodel Carre Otis opens up to Anderson Cooper about her infamously rocky marriage to Mickey Rourke, which was apparently doomed from day one when he pulled a gun on her while on their honeymoon.

"It wasn't the first time, but I had said to him, 'I don't want you going out," says the 43-year-old author of Beauty, Disrupted, a memoir. "He put a gun to my head and told me he was going out."

Otis and Rourke married in 1992, nearly two years after their controversial flick Wild Orchid hit theaters. The film haunted the pair as rumors circulated that they had filmed an unsimulated sex scene that ended up on the cutting room floor. When Playboy purchased photos of the alleged scene, Otis filed a lawsuit to prevent their publication.

Throughout their six-year marriage, Rourke was engaged in a well-publicized battle with drugs and was also apparently packing heat "for protection."

In an excerpt from her memoir she writes, "We were almost at the restaurant when I looked down and saw a .357 Magnum on the floor near my feet ... Mickey parked the car and leaned towards me, his voice soft but firm, 'Otis, remember, it's for our protection."

Unfortunately the very instrument her hubby was using to protect them injured Otis when she was unaware that Rourke had stashed a gun inside of her handbag.

"I slung my bag off my shoulder and tossed it onto the counter," she writes. "Boom! A tremendous noise reverberated through the kitchen ... and just then I noticed everyone was staring at me, their eyes widening. I stood there, suspended in time."

The accidental firing sent a hollow-point bullet to Otis's chest, just two inches from her heart, sending the couple into a mad panic. 

"I panicked wondering which was more important: My life or covering up the fact that I'd been shot with Mickey Rourke's gun?,'" she recounts.

Police questioned the model about the incident, but no charges were filed.
