Carrie Underwood Scores First Movie Role
Country girl on the big-screen
Carrie Underwood is a fabulous entertainer who's about to add something to her resume. She just scored her first movie role, playing a supporting role in an upcoming movie about surfer Bethany Hamilton. I can't wait to see her on the big-screen!
It seems like every singer has been launching acting careers lately. And especially those country girls. After all, Taylor Swift is about to make her big-screen debut with a small role in Valentine's Day. And now Carrie Underwood has scored a supporting role in Soul Surfer, a biopic of Bethany Hamilton, the surfer who lost her arm to a shark when she was 13.
Carrie will be playing Bethany's friend and church youth counselor, Sara Hill. According to Bethany, "Sarah has been my best friend since I was very young... After my shark attack, she always knew what to say to push me on." So, it sounds like Carrie's role might actually be kind of big.
AnnaSophia Robb will be playing Bethany Hamilton, with Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt as her parents and Lorraine Nicholson (Jack Nicholson's daughter) as another friend. Carrie Underwood will be flying to Hawaii to film the movie after she sings the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in Miami. I wonder if Mike Fisher will be paying Carrie a visit in Hawaii.
I hope this is only the start of Carrie Underwood's movie career! Of course, we are anxious to watch her guest spot on How I Met Your Mother in March and to see her sing this weekend at the Super Bowl.
