Celebrities Raise Money for Action For Children Charity
Celebrities including Rod Stewart, Amir Khan and Robbie Coltrane have donated artwork to raise money for charity Action For Children. The charity supports youngsters across the UK who are in vulnerable circumstances and help them as they set upon their own personal journeys.
An online exhibition has been set up by the charity and it features 150 pieces of artwork donated by famous figures. Celebrities that have donated a picture include: Vanessa Mae, Tony Adams, Tim Henman, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Rod Stewart, Robbie Coltrane, Patsy Palmer, Leigh Francis and Kim Wilde. Other celebs include: Joanna Lumley, Jo Brand, Jennie Bond, Gary Rhodes, Fearne Cotton, Esther Rantzen, Duncan Bannatyne, Charlie Clements, Arlene Phillips, Amir Khan. The celebrities have illustrated a picture that shows their own journeys in two simple pictures from where they started to where they finished the journey. Boxer Amir Khan said: "I used to be a bit of a tearaway as a kid – I was hyperactive and always messing around. My Dad wanted to a way to channel my energy, so sent me to a local boxing club. "It transformed everything – I worked really hard and was boxing competitively by the time I was 11. "With loads of support from my coaches, family and friends and a lot of tough training, I won a Silver medal at the Athens Olympics when I was 17."
