Cher (And Hundreds of Thousands of Other People) Wants Macy's to Dump Donald Trump
Petition Created to Dump Donald Trump from Macy's
It doesn't seem like Donald Trump has a lot of fans these days.
While Cher has been urging Macy's to ditch Trump from their store brands and campaigns, a petition has started to get the Macy's folks' attention.
At SignOn.org, a petition to "Urge Macy's to Dump Donald Trump" was started, with a statement that reads: "Macy's: Donald Trump does not reflect the 'magic of Macy's.' We urge you to sever ties with him. Macy's says it has a strong obligation to be 'socially responsible and that 'actions speak louder than words.' Indeed. It's time to act."
The petition explains, "Macy's has a special deal with Donald Trump. They invest in developing Trump's brand and sell his clothing line and fragrance at their locations. To this end, they have had major events at Macy's Herald Square location and they often feature and promote Trump in advertisements designed to celebrate the magic of Macy's."

The Macy's CEO, Terry Lundgren recently sent Trump a letter that said that they would expand Trump's brand.
The petition asserts, "Donald Trump engages in especially unpleasant, nasty and despicable behavior," noting he's engaged in "sexist behavior," his Macy's clothing line is "made in China and other Asian nations," and he's "perpetuated the racially charged birther conspiracy."
The petition has garnered 491,000+ signatures at the time of this writing.
Cher noted on Twitter: "I'll never go to Macy's again! I didn't know they sold Donald Trump's line! If they don't care that they sell products from a loudmouth racist cretin, who'd lie like 'his rug' to get some cheap press! I can't believe Macy's thinks he's the right 'man' 2 represent their name!"
It will be interesting to see how many people sign the petition (it's nearing 700,000 now) and to see how Macy's reacts to the growing pressure.

Trump's spokesman told the New York Daily News, "Mr. Trump is important to Macy's, both as a brand and as an endorser. His ties, shirts, cufflinks, fragrances and other merchandise are top-selling items across the country ... The country has been founded on the principles of freedom of speech -- something Mr. Trump is entitled to as well as the creator of this petition."
Should Macy's sever ties with The Donald?
