Chris Golightly Disqualified from American Idol
Already under contract?
Chris Golightly will be treading heavily for a while. The singer and American Idol hopeful originally made this season's Top 24, but now FOX is revealing the young Texan has been disqualified.
Neither FOX or Ryan Seacrest (who posted on his Twitter page that Golightly is out) have commented on the specifics og his disqualification, but it's believed to be because of a mix-up regarding a former contract.
"This is not fair; I don't know what to do," he told USA Today by phone Thursday morning.
Golightly and American Idol officials had apparently recieved an email from the young singer's former manager, who claimed Golightly was under contract. This prompted AI to cut Golightly from the competition, even though the singer says the contract has expired and there has been some huge mistake.
Still in a press release, FOX says he's out. "It has been determined that Chris Golightly is ineligible to continue in the competition," they said. "American Idol contestant Tim Urban has replaced Golightly as part of the Top 24."
That's a terrible break for Golightly, but for AI fans it adds even more drama to a season whose cup already runneth over.
