Meloni wasted no time in the unemployed actors club, it seems, as he's about to land a role on True Blood.

Yes, the super popular HBO vampire drama could be welcoming Meloni aboard, if the latest casting buzz is to be believed.

The ever-reliable Michael Ausiello has the scoop at TVLine, reporting with the exclusive that Meloni is "circling what my sources are calling a "major role" in the show's upcoming fifth season."

That's no small potatoes, landing a "major role" on one of TV's hottest shows.

Ausiello reports that an HBO rep declined to comment, but he hears Meloni is "in talks to play (duh) an incredibly powerful vampire."

Yeah, that doesn't give fans much to go on, but Meloni will be an excellent addition to the True Blood cast.

Any way you slice it, it's a win. Meloni is a fantastic actor with a huge fanbase from Oz and SVU, so his followers will be thrilled to see him back on TV.
