Conan O'Brien On FOX: New Website Registered
New development makes Conan's Fox gig almost certain.
Tuesday was supposed to be Jay Day, when NBC had planned to announce that they were letting Conan O'Brien go so that Jay Leno could take his old spot at The Tonight Show. While the New York Times reported late Tuesday afternoon that staff severance deals were holding up Conan talks, we learned that Fox had registered a Conan O'Brien Web site called ConanOnFox.com.
Our friends at TMZ appear to have been the ones who broke the story, and we investigated for further details. Apparently Fox bought the Conan Web site on January 12, according to a database known as WHOIS. As of the afternoon of Tuesday, January 19, entering the site name in your browser window takes visitors to a GoDaddy page or to a Conan On Fox Twitter page.
Fox is denying having bought the page, but a reliable source lists "Film Company, Twentieth Century Fox Intellectual Property Department" with a post office box address in Beverly Hills as the administrative contact who purchased the ConanOnFox domain through GoDaddy. Reportedly the Conan On Fox Twitter page had been deleted by press time.
