Country Music Award Nominees Announced
Good old American country music.
Grab your ten-gallon, some shiny boots and a geetar, ya'll. The 43rd annual Country Music Association Awards are here, and all your favorite honky-tonks have been nominated.
The major nominations were announced on Good Morning America today by Lee Ann Womack and ex-Hootie and the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker. Don't fret – he sings country now. Leading the pack was superstar Brad Paisley with six nominations, including best single, song and album, as well as the night's top honor, best entertainer.
Joining him as nominees for the best entertainer category are Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Keith Urban and teen phenom Taylor Swift. At 19, Swift is the only female singer nominated in the category, and she's the first to even be considered since Faith Hill in 2000.
Swift is also nominated for the best female vocalist category, along with Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and four-time winner Reba McEntire.
For the songwriters themselves, the nominees for best song included "I Told You So" by Randy Travis, Zac Brown and Wyatt Durrette's "Chicken Fried," "In Color" by Jamey Johnson, Lee Thomas Miller and James Otto, "People Are Crazy" by Bobby Braddock and Troy Jones, and "Then" by Brad Paisley, Chris DuBois and Ashley Gorley.
But these are only the major categories, so don't worry your little mind if your favorite singer or band hasn't been mentioned yet. There's still plenty of time before the show airs November 11th on ABC.
