Artist Makes Statement with Painful Front-Heeled Shoes

Take a look at the photo of these front-heeled shoes and try to figure out what exactly is going on.

Is it the fashion world's hottest new trend? Will we be seeing Lady Gaga these galavanting in them any time soon?

Actually, no. The shoes are part of an art exhibit, so they're not available for purchase. Though, with pockets as deep as Gaga's we wouldn't count it out.

The strange looking footwear is featured in an exhibit called "Scary Beautiful" by artist Leanie van der Vyver and Dutch shoe designer René van den Berg.

The front-heeled shoes provide a commentary about physical beauty, as explained in this synopsis:

"Humans are playing God by physically and metaphorically perfecting themselves. Beauty is currently at an all-time climax, allowing this project to explore what lies beyond perfection.

Scary Beautiful challenges current beauty ideals by inflicting an unexpected new beauty standard."
