Ron Howard is drooling somewhere.

Professor Robert Langdon has seen his share of tricky puzzles and secret societies. In Angels and Demons he took on the Illuminati. In The Da Vinci Code he uncovered a shocking church conspiracy. And now, in Dan Brown's new book, The Lost Symbol, he takes on the infamous Freemasons.

The Lost Symbol is Dan Brown's third mystery adventure featuring Langdon, the famed professor of religous iconography and symbology. He has most recently been portrayed in two Ron Howard film adaptations by Forrest Gump himself, Tom Hanks.

Brown's new novel has been hotly anticipated ever since it was announced years ago. Originally scheduled for 2006, its release date has been pushed back numerous times. Now, publisher Random House will be debuting the novel on Tuesday, September 15th, with a record-breaking first printing of six million copies.

Details about the story's plot are being tightly guarded, but it will again follow Langdon as he tangles with the secret society The Freemasons and the Lost Symbol, a pictogram in the Key of Solomon, an ancient book of magic.

Leading up to the book's release, Matt Lauer and the Today Show are releasing a series of clues that lead to specific locations where the storyline takes place. Yesterday's was a mysterious facility nicknamed the Death Star, which houses over 55 million dead and bottled creatures, some of which were collected by Charles Darwin himself.

So what could Robert Langdon be looking for in such a creepy place? And what does it have to do with the Freemasons? Looks like we'll have to wait for the book's release next week before we find any answers.
