Dane Cook's Brother Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison
His sister-in-law stole from him too.
Dane Cook is no longer his brother's keeper. The comedian's half-brother, Darryl McCauley, has been sentenced to five to six years in prison for embezzling millions of dollars from the stand-up comic, including one instance when he wrote himself a $3 million check.

McCauley plead guilty to 27 counts of larceny, plus embezzlement, forgery and conspiracy on Wednesday, and was sentenced to at least a half-decade in federal prison. He will also serve ten years probation once he is out, and of course will have to pay restitution to Cook.
According to a statement from Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley, McCauley "abused his position as a family member to gain Mr. Cook's trust, and stole millions of dollars for his own personal gain." She hopes the sentence will deter other embezzlers.

McCauley, who had the same mother as Cook, worked as the comedian's business manager for 15 years and began stealing money from him in 2004. At one point he forged a $3 million check to himself from Cook's account.
McCauley's wife, who is Cook's sister-in-law, has also been charged with larceny for aiding and abetting her husband. She's headed to court later this month.
