'Dear John,' 'From Paris with Love' Head to Theaters
Your guide to the weekend's new releases.
Love and action. These are the two forces that control every impulse we have as movie-goers, and when they meet all heck can break loose. Thankfully, for this weekend at least, they've been kept in their respective corners. Say hello to the latest Nicholas Sparks adaptation, Dear John, and a John Travolta shoot-em-up, From Paris with Love.
Fans of The Notebook, the weepy 2004 drama based on a Nicholas Sparks book of the same name, will undoubtedly enjoy Dear John. The film stars Channing Tatum as a soldier who meets a young and beautiful woman (Amanda Seyfried) while he is on leave from duty.
Over the course of the next seven years, her letters are the only thing that keeps him going. But pretty soon the pair finds that their correspondence has led them down a path they never could have seen.
If all that sounds a little too sappy for your weekend, maybe you should check out From Paris with Love. Jonathan Rhy Meyers stars as a CIA agent in Paris who finds his new partner (played by John Travolta) to be a little more than he can bear. Despite their difference, the two proceed to shoot up the iconic city together.
