Demand For Larger Size Mannequins Increasing
Plus Size Mannequins Reflecting Size of Average Women
Ever see something fabulous on a store mannequin, only to try it on in a real woman's size and have it be less than awesome?
Looks like those size 0 mannequins are being replaced in some retail stores, as there's a hot demand for mannequins sized 12 - 14.
The Daily Mail reports that the demand for larger mannequins in UK stores has increased, with dummy manufacturer Displaysense seeing a 16 percent increase for the larger sizes in the past year.

Of course, the debate will wage on as to whether this increase in demand is because of women's growing waistlines as we face issues of obesity, or if stores are just trying to more accurately reflect what an average sized woman looks like.
Displaysense spokesman Jim Moody commented: "Curves are back and set to stay this spring/summer. [Karl] Lagerfeld may want size zero on his catwalk but the commercial viability of the growing plus-size clothing market is being seized by high street chains and independent retailers alike."
He adds, "Staying relevant to your audience is essential and our order books show that sales of larger sized and bigger breasted mannequins, wider clothes hangers for heavier garments and other plus-size display products are undoubtedly on the rise in 2012."

Personally, I think it would be nice to see a range of different sizes of mannequins at stores.
Do you think this trend will catch on in America?
