Denny's Introduces 'Hobbit' Movie-Themed Menu [VIDEO]
The Grand Slam Gives Way to the Build Your Own Hobbit Slam
Forget a Hobbit Happy Meal or Frodo French fries … Denny's restaurants are planning the ultimate foodie tie-in for December's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey movie, with a Hobbit-themed menu.
The movie hits theaters on Dec. 14, but Denny's will start dishing up the Frodo fare on Nov. 6, AdAge.com reports.
And among those entrees that will pay homage to the stars of J.R.R. Tolkien's adventure: Radagast's Red Velvet Pancake Puppies (which look like donut holes), Bilbo's Berry Smoothie, Lone-Lands Campfire Cookie Milkshake, Lonely Mountain Treasure (French toast squares served with a bowl of cream cheese as dip), Frodo's Pot Roast Skillet, Gandalf's Gobble Melt, Shire Sausage and Build Your Own Hobbit Slam.

The "Middle Earth is coming to America's diner" campaign, as Denny's is pitching its limited-time menu, will be available at Denny's restaurants through January.
Tolkien fans know that hobbits eat two breakfasts every day -- and seven meals in total -- which a Denny's spokesperson says made the company the perfect partner for a tie-in to the Lord of the Rings prequel film.
"We just felt with the two breakfasts that whole notion of comfort eating and comfort food" were a good match for Denny's, Denny's executive Frances Allen said.
Bonus for Hobbit fans who head to Denny's: a pack of collectible trading cards with some Middle Earth-inspired dishes, as well as placemats that feature QR codes that steer fans to videos and online games.
