Did Charlie Sheen Pull a Knife on Brooke Mueller?
Sheen and Mueller still want to be together, knives and all.
Charlie Sheen spent most of Christmas in jail for allegedly assaulting his wife, Brooke Mueller, and reportedly threatening her with a knife. The couple are now expected to seek professional help with their relationship.
The ordeal began Thursday night in Colorado when Sheen apparently confronted Mueller about her excessive drinking, and she called police saying Sheen was choking her. However, when police arrived on the scene, she claimed that never happened.
"They were fighting at a dinner in a friend's house and it continued until the next morning," a friend of Mueller's told People magazine. "Both of them were drinking and neither was supposed to be. They both have histories of alcohol abuse and have made every effort to stop. But things got out of hand."
Sheen was arrested and charged with assault, along with another charge of assault with a "deadly weapon," now believed to be a knife.
After spending Christmas in an Aspen jail, Sheen posted bail and went back to Los Angeles. Under Colorado law he is prohibited from contacting his wife until his February 8 court date.
Still, according to Sheen's attorney, Richard Cummins, the pair want to work out their problems with a therapist. Sheen will also undergo anger management therapy.
"They have two children together," said Cummins, "and they love one another and they're going to work through what is a difficult time and they're going to do that together and as privately as possible."
