Did 'DWTS' Audience Boo Sarah Palin?

Palin's "DWTS" presence caused chorus of disgust?

"Did they just boo Sarah Palin?" That was the question heard across America Monday night as "Dancing With the Stars" co-host Tom Bergeron sat down for a live chat with Sarah Palin, who made the trip from Alaska to L.A. to support daughter Bristol in her "DWTS" bid.

The audience booed just as the camera cut to Bergeron and Palin, and even co-host Brooke Burke questioned why...were they actually booing at Palin?

Turns out they weren't. Right before Tom Bergeron sat down with Sarah Palin, actress Jennifer Grey and her partner Derek Hough had received their scores for their unanimously phenomenal dance. Despite a recent series of intense surgeries to remove cancer from her neck and spine, Jennifer Grey rocked the dance floor in a jive and was praised by the judges...only to receive a score of three 8's.

Apparently the audience didn't feel that Grey's score did justice to her dance, and indeed that's why they were booing. Even Jennifer Grey said, "Why is there booing?" and buxom "Dancing With the Stars" co-host Brooke Burke said, "There's booing in the ballroom -- we don't know why."

Nope, the booing wasn't pointed at Sarah Palin, who laughed and joked with Tom Bergeron from the audience to insist that "Bristol the Pistol" is her favorite dancer on the cast. To us watching from home, the spirit inside the ballroom studio looks like too much fun and comeraderie for their to be boos pointed at an audience member...even if it's Sarah Palin!

Of mom Sarah's presence, "DWTS" star Bristol Palin said, "I was so excited that [she was] able to come. I'm very glad [she] could be here."
