Did Muse Sell Their Souls for 'Twilight'?
Guess they're not Twi-Hards?
Though the Twilight movies definitely appeal to a young audience (in general), the music appeals to people of all ages. The movies can be seen as trendy, while the music is totally indie. We love that Muse keeps coming up in the movies' soundtracks. But it sounds like Muse was less than thrilled to accept the Twilight offer.

We think Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme made a major mistake by opening his mouth to talk about Twilight with MTV News. After all, Muse has found an incredibly wide audience by landing itself on all 3 Twilight soundtracks. But it doesn't sound like they appreciate it very much.
The way Chris puts it, they did what they had to do. He says, "I'm not sure how cool it is to be on those kind of things, but sometimes you've just got to get your music out there in different ways." Which is true. But then he goes on to compare Muse being on the Twilight soundtrack to selling their souls. What?!
Chris continues, "It's very difficult in America, because you don't have anything like Radio 1, nothing is national... You have to take every opportunity you get over there, and sometimes you have to sell your soul."
It makes us kind of sad to know that Muse isn't very enthusiastic about landing coveted spots on the soundtracks. We're sure there are plenty of bands who would die for a spot on there.

Wolstenholme has only seen the first Twilight movie and claims he enjoyed it, though it wasn't his "cup of tea." And it sounds like they Muse and Summit had some issues regarding where their song would land in Eclipse: "When we were in the studio writing it, one minute they said they wanted to use it in the end credits, then they said they wanted to use it in another scene. Then it was another scene, and in the end, we were like, 'Do what you want with it, we don't care any more.'"
Though Muse is Stephenie Meyer's favorite band and claims they were her inspiration while writing the Twilight books, we're wondering if they'll be asked back for Breaking Dawn. Of course, Muse drummer Dominic Howard has had only nice things to say about the Muse/Twilight collaboration. Maybe they just shouldn't like Wolstenholme open his mouth to the media about Twilight.
