Do You Live in One of America's Manliest Cities?
No, It's Not in Texas. Not New York or California. Not in Tennessee, Ohio or Louisiana, Either
Do you think you live in America's manliest city? For the fourth year in a row, Combos -- yes, the company that makes those tasty little cheese-filled pretzel bites -- has teamed with research expert Bert Sperling to compile the list of the 50 manliest cities in America, and this year, a new city tops the list …
It's Oklahoma City!

Number three on the 2011 list, Oklahoma City not only tops this year's list, but it's also the only Oklahoma city in the top 50.
Sperling, the company behind most of those "Best Places to Live" lists you read about in magazines and on websites, rounds out the top 10 with Columbia, South Carolina in second place; Memphis in third; Nashville in fourth; Birmingham, Alabama in fifth; Houston in sixth; St. Louis in seventh; Toledo and Cleveland, Ohio in eighth and ninth places, respectively; and Charlotte, North Carolina as the 10th manliest city in the country.
As per the company's official press release, the "study takes 50 major metropolitan areas and ranks them from manliest to least manly. The study compiles 'manly' city data such as the number of home improvement stores, steak houses and 'manly' occupations per capita. But even if a city has a fair share of 'manly' traits, unmanly or 'girly' factors, like a high concentration of nail salons and fancy shopping boutiques, can bump cities to the bottom of the list."
We won't quibble by pointing out that many a female enjoys dining at a steakhouse, while many men, obviously, can be found shopping at, ahem, fancy stores.
Anyway … a few notable stats on the list: Philadelphia dropped down nine spots to 29 on the list and Columbus, Ohio dropped nine spots to 27 on the list, meaning each have allegedly become less manly; Jacksonville, Florida jumped up 12 spots to number 21 on the list; and California cities claim five of the bottom 10 spots on the list, with San Diego being named the least manliest city in America.
